What is it? The official Market Day Website explains, "Since Market Day's inception over 30 years ago, our program has been introduced across the country and now serves as the primary fundraising source for over 5,000 schools in 16 states. The Market Day program has raised over $330 million for education since 1975. Our year-round program offers parents and neighbors the opportunity to buy restaurant quality food products through a school or related organization each month while contributing a portion of every purchase to their child's school. Plus, our products are competitively priced and carry a 100% satisfaction guarantee." How does it help the school? St. Anthony receives 10 per cent profit from all orders placed through Market Day. How can I participate? Watch for the monthly Market Day menu in your child's Wednesday Notes, where you may browse from a wide selection of delicious offerings. Place your order on the order form accompanying the menu, but be sure to sure to return your order by the deadline. Do not include payment with your order. Your products will be available on the next scheduled pick-up day in the school cafeteria and you can pay for them at that time. You can even order online! Just sign up on the registration page at the official Market Day Website. After registration you'll be able to order Market Day products to be delivered for pickup in the St. Anthony cafeteria just like paper orders. And, you can take a 10% charitable donation (based on the 10% St. Anthony receives) on your income taxes. We need volunteers, too, so feel free to just show up on the sale date. The truck usually arrives around 3:15-3:30 p.m. and the sale concludes at 6:00 p.m. How has St. Anthony benefited from the program? The St. Anthony PTO estimates that Market Day has brought the school approximately $52,000 over the last several years. The average profit per month has been approximately $400 (not including bonus pies and cookies.) Thanks to a special effort in the 2004-2005 school year, Market Day proceeds were used to purchase a lighted marquee for the school.
